Chapter 3: Setting Your Goals

The previous chapter provided you with an explanation of the nutrient analysis and energy balance aspects of your diet. Your first analysis is the baseline from which you will measure your progress and achievement. This chapter will help you get organized to earn pluses (+'s) to improve your DINE Score. The first step to accomplish this is to set your goals.



How much should you weigh? How many calories should you eat per day? How can you regulate your food intake? How many minutes of physical activity or exercise do you need each day? The answers to these questions are primary goals. These goals are related to your nutrient and energy balance. They are the keys to your overall health. They form the structure for setting more specific goals. At the end of this section, you will be asked to write down your primary nutrition and physical activity goals.
